Privacy
The short version: we collect as little as we can, we use it to get your chai to you and to send the emails you asked for, and we never sell it.
When you order
Payments are processed by Square, our payment provider. Your card number goes straight into Square's secure payment fields, so it never passes through our servers, and we never see or store it.
To fill your order we need your name, email, phone number if you give one, delivery address and what you bought. Depending on how you check out, you type these on Square's checkout page or on ours; from ours they go through our small checkout service (run on Vercel) on their way to Square. We use them to deliver your order, to contact you about it, and to handle any refund. They stay in our Square account, which is also where we keep the sales records the tax rules require. Order emails go out through Resend. Square's own privacy notice covers how they handle payments.
When you order online, we also add your email to our email list, so we can send the odd note about new blends, pop-ups and deals. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link, and one click takes you off for good. We stop emailing customers two years after their last order, unless they've joined the list themselves.
When you join the email list
Signing up gives your email address to Mailchimp, which sends our emails, along with which form you used — so we know whether you wanted premix news, event news or everything. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Joining for the welcome discount works the same way. Mailchimp is part of Intuit; here is their privacy statement.
When you browse
We use Google Analytics to count visits: which pages get read, roughly which city they're read from, and on what kind of device. It sets cookies so it can tell a returning visitor from a new one. It doesn't tell us who you are. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on, or by blocking cookies.
Your browser also remembers, on your own device, whether you've closed the email signup box, so it stays away for 30 days. That never leaves your browser.
Who else sees it
Only us, and Square, Vercel, Resend, Mailchimp and Google doing the jobs described above. We don't sell, rent or trade anyone's personal information.
Seeing, fixing or deleting what we hold
To see what we have about you, correct it or have it deleted, just email us at sip@godschai.com. The one exception is order records, which we have to keep for tax purposes for six years.
